UK nationals and long-term residents can apply to MSCA Postdoctoral Global Fellowships as if the UK was associated to Horizon Europe, as per the transitional arrangements.
However, if the UK does not associate on time, it could lead to different outcomes for the eligibility of the researcher. These are the possible scenarios that REA has foreseen:
Cases by researchers’ national and long-term residence status: |
Can submit a proposal? |
If the proposal is successful and in case of non-association of the UK by the time of the Grant Agreement signature: |
UK national & MS long-term resident when UK was MS |
YES |
ELIGIBLE |
MS long-term resident in UK when it was a MS |
YES |
ELIGIBLE |
UK national but not long-term resident when UK was MS |
YES |
INELIGIBLE |
Regarding the first case, it concerns both the eligibility of the researcher and the host organisation. Following the transitional arrangements, UK host organisations can apply as beneficiaries of Global Fellowships as if the UK was associated, but not as hosts for the outgoing phase in a Third Country. The mobility rule of a Global Fellowship applies for the Third Country where the outgoing phase takes place. However, as per the transitional arrangement, if the UK does not associate by the time of the planned signature of the Grant Agreement, the proposals will have to be declared ineligible.
